Pilgrimage to Hungary, Austria and Croatia

September 17th - October 1st, 2010

Day One: At this time I am working on the possibility of either traveling from St. Therese to Chicago by bus or flying from Mosinee to Chicago.

Day Two: Arrive in Vienna. Travel from airport to hotel and unpack Tour Kahlenberg, St. Joseph Church, Old City, Cathedral of St. Stephen, Street Greben, Ringstrasse (Ring Road), Opera, Hofburg Palace, Rathaus City Hall and Parliament. Return to hotel, supper, night accommodations. 

Day Three: Breakfast. Tour 3rd District, see the architecture of Hundertwasser, drive to Schonbrunn Palace (the summer residence of Cesar), tour inside the residence , walk the gardens (palm and rose) also see the Neptune Fountain. Free time in city, return to hotel, supper, night accommodations.

Day Four: Breakfast. Pack and drive to Eger, Hungary. Check in to hotel, guided tour of city, Dobo Market, Basilica, Castle, Minaret Tower. Tour wine museum, shopping, return to hotel for supper and night accommodations.

Day Five: Breakfast (Swedish table style). Take bus to Tokaj. Walk in the city, visit palace, city hall, and visit wine cellars. Supper at the Valley of Beautiful Women.Taste Eger wine, enjoy gypsy music, goulash, desert, and 5 different wines. This supper will be a lot of fun. Return to hotel, night accommodations.

Day Six: Breakfast. Drive to Budapest. Guided tour of Gellert Hill Castle, tour Basilica of St. Stephen,and Parliament building. Return to hotel, supper and night accommodations.

Day Seven: Breakfast. Tour 2nd part of Budapest. Hero’s Square, State Opera House, Museum of Fine Art. Free time in the city, return to hotel for supper and night accommodations.

Day Eight: Breakfast.Trip to Esztergom (the first Capital, seat of Constitutional Court and the Roman Catholic Church of Hungary). Tour Esztergom Basilica on Castle Hill, walk on old city (famous for its baroque buildings). Free time, drive to Visegrad, tour early renaissance summer palace of King Matthias. Dive to Szentendre, little town built on the Danube River.Tour the center of the city, Museum of Miniatures and Marzipan Museum. Return to Budapest hotel, supper and night accommodations.

Day Nine: Breakfast. Travel to Zagreb (Capital of Croatia). Check into hotel, tour Zagreb, Cathedral. Return to hotel, supper and night accommodations.

Day Ten: Breakfast. Depart for Neum, (only costal town in Bosnia and Herzegovina to have connection with Adriatic Sea).Visit Split, (ancient port city in Dalmatig). Tour the oldest buildings in Roman time, Diocletian Palace. Return to hotel, supper and night accommodations.

Day Eleven: Breakfast. Tour Dubrovnik,(city is called the pearl of the Adriatic Sea), Franciscan Monastery, Sponza Palace, Cathedral, old part of city. Free time on beach of the Adriatic Sea. Return to hotel, supper, night accommodations.

Day Twelve: Breakfast. Cruise to Island of Korcula, tour of island, Cathedral of St. Marco, Home of Marco Polo, Arneri Palace, free time. Return to hotel, supper, night accommodations. 

Day Thirteen: Breakfast. Leave hotel, tour Plivice Lakes National Park, the most beautiful natural wonder in Croatia. This park has 16 lakes and 92 waterfalls. Check into hotel, supper, night accommodations.

Day Fourteen: Breakfast.Trip to Marija Bistrica (well known sine the 18th century, famous place of pilgrims).Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin Mary and infant Jesus statue. Return to hotel, supper, night accommodations.

Day Fifteen: Breakfast. Depart hotel for Austria. Arrive at airport, return home.
