The Gift From Giving
By RH
That may be a strange title, but let me explain. It was my mother who taught me about giving. She was on welfare while she was raising the 6 of us, but she would give whatever she had if someone needed it. Sometimes we kids would complain because she would give away some of what we were supposed to have for supper that night. She would always tell us that God gave us so much and He can never be outdone. Even though we had little of the worldly goods, we had health and each other; and she was contented and happy for that. She would often use the saying, “Whatever you give to God, He will give you 100 fold in return”. That was hard for us to understand as children, but as we grew up, we found that it is true. God is very generous!
Every time we thought we didn’t have enough of something and we placed it in front of God, He would answer us with enough. When we found that we were not quite able to pay some bills, we would turn it over to Him and somehow it always worked out. Sometimes on a Sunday, when we would go to the checkbook to make out the check for the tithing envelope, it was almost empty, but in Faith, we gave what there was and He always made sure that we were taken care of, that we had enough.
If you are not in the habit of giving regularly, give it a try. God will never be outdone! Take a leap of Faith! After doing this for some years, my husband recognized what was going on and he, too, will say, ”Give and pray, it will be okay.”
