Saint’s Corner

St. Patrick

St Patrick was born around the year 389 A.D. of Romano-British origin. His father was a deacon in the Church. Around the age of 14 he was carried off by raiders into slavery for six years. During this time, his faith grew tremendously while he prayed day and night.

After escaping and returning home, he studied and was eventually ordained a priest. He began to preach the gospel tirelessly traveling all over Ireland without fear for his safety and to convert many pagans to Christianity. Many miracles were attributed to him as he faced opposition, especially from the druids of Ireland. In 444 he became the bishop of Armagh. He died about 461 A.D. around the age of 72. Saint Patrick is a patron Saint for engineers, against snakes, for Ireland, and for many other dioceses throughout the world.
