St. Blaise

    On February 3^rd we celebrate the memorial of St. Blaise, who is the Patron Saint of those with throat diseases. Not much is known about St. Blaise. What we do know is that at a young age, St. Blaise studied philosophy and became a physician. Later he was ordained a priest and became the Bishop of Sebaste. While being arrested by order of the Governor Agricolous, St. Blaise was asked by a mother to heal her baby who was suffering from a disease of the throat. Through the intercession of St. Blaise, the child was cured. St. Blaise was tortured and died a martyr about the year 320. He is listed as one of the fourteen Holy Helpers.
