Saint Andrew

Did you know that today, November 30th, is the feast day of St. Andrew the Apostle? St. Andrew was a fisherman and also the brother of St. Peter. He was originally a disciple of St. John the Baptist before he began to follow the Lord and became one of the twelve apostles (Jn 1:40). Andrew witnessed many miracles of Jesus including the multiplication of the loaves (Jn 6:8). Tradition holds that he was crucified on an X shaped cross (called a saltire) and that he preached on it for two days before dying. Saint Andrew is the Patron Saint of fisherman, maidens, and women who wish to become mothers.
