Saint Dymphna
Saint Dymphna was born in Ireland to a pagan chieftain and a devout Christian. After her mother's death, her father was afflicted with a mental illness and he wished to marry his daughter. Saint Dymphna, wishing to keep her purity, fled with her confessor. They were tracked down in Belgium where the priest was beheaded. After failing to convince his daughter to marry him, the king also killed his daughter. At the time of her death, she was 15 years old. Saint Dymphna is the patron of those suffering from nervous and mental afflictions.
