Reconciliation

by RH

Has it ever happened that you said or did something that hurt or harmed another person?

Perhaps an action or word or gossip that resulted in causing distress or pain to someone?

When you realize what you have done, you may feel sorry; but, after a while, you may forget about it and go about your normal activities. Meanwhile, the person who was hurt still feels the pain if you do not go to them and say the words “I’m sorry”. That hurt could change someone’s whole life. Saying the words are so important to ourselves and to others.

God knows us so well! He gave us the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession). In confession we have the opportunity to say, out loud, those words “I’m sorry”. We do things that are not pleasing to God and are against His teachings. He knows what we have done, but we must say the words. It is good for our souls to humble ourselves to tell our sins to God, through the priest and sincerely say “I’m sorry for all my sins!” Then, we can have the peace and joy that only God gives.
