To Take Mary Home…

By Father Janusz

We are in the month of May which is a beautiful month. All of nature has woken up, and everything has turned green. The weather has changed and our time is filled with optimism. Life has returned to full speed and we are looking for more strength. Green means waking up in hope and being alive.

During this month in the Catholic Church we celebrate in a very special way the presence of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This month is dedicated to the Mother of Jesus Christ. Every day during this month we say the Litany to Mary. We remember her but we also learn from her a beautiful style of life and we ask for her help. It is very good to deepen our relationship with her. We all remember Holy Week and Good Friday. Jesus, who was crucified gave Mary in a special way to be a mother for John the Apostle. “Woman behold your Son”, then He said to the disciple, “Behold your Mother”, and from that hour the disciple took her into his home. (John 19:26,27). She became his mother and he felt like her son. Between them appeared a very deep spiritual bond.

      To take Mary home:

1. She is our spiritual mother, mother of the church. We discovered her huge part in the life of Jesus and also like a mother of the church.

2. We should take her home in our hearts.

3. We need to take her home in our daily lives-to imitate her. She is an example of beautiful service to God. In Luke 1:38 Mary said, “Behold I am the handmaid of the Lord, may it be done to me according to your word”. She is the one who can teach us how to stay in dialog with God, how to celebrate the joy and sorrow in our life.

Her life was dedicated to serve the family and others. She is the reason for our joy, she is our Mother of Perpetual Help.
