Time for New Spirituality
By Father Janusz
Everything has changed, our culture, civilization, the growth in science, philosophy, theology, our practice, and our families. Like it or not, the spirit of the family has also changed, the spirit of marriage as well. The practice of the faith in the family should receive a very special role. The pursuit of being very close to God, to sanctifying common life, became a charism for many groups in the Church. Unfortunately, it seems that this has also made room for people to step back from the
individual practice of the faith. What is needed, to correct this, is to ask ourselves, “What is the
spirituality of married people and what can I do for it?”
The roots of this spiritual way come from the sacraments. In many ways, society’s erroneous view of marriage has become the foundation, whereas the family should be the focus for marriage. This is the first and unrepeatable way, very special, like every man. This view is supported by the teachings of the Church on families but we often don’t have very good experiences from our families with the practice of the faith. The spirit of this culture is built on society’s divided faith and it has attacked the
meaning of the Word of God and common prayer. During the time when parents learned how to
educate their children, they learned about a pedagogy of Christian life. The family, which builds on the culture of Christianity, becomes a witness to their own children. However their neighbors and local society may not approve of their example.
The family which builds on the culture of Christianity does two things; a) participation in evangelization, and b) making a stronger community.
