Living Each Day

By Liz Wiskowski

When we are young we tend to be very self-centered. As we grow older, with the grace of God, some of us begin to realize what is important. He has allowed one to live long enough to know that it is the little everyday things that bring us closer to Him and enables us to live our lives the way He wants us to. We don’t have to be important or in the public eye. We don’t need the biggest house or the best car. We don’t need the most money or the best job. A few suggestions to lead a happy, contented, peaceful life:

1.      God’s love knows no limits. Spend some time each day talking to Him.1

2.      Tell your spouse and your children that you love them.

3.      Find a few moments each day for quiet and stillness.2

4.      Hug your children. Talk with them, not at them.

5.      Discover your talents and then use them.

6.      Have a sharp mind, a keen wit, and a discriminating tongue. Praise often and criticize seldom.3

7.      Do something nice for someone and then forget it.4

8.      Be happy for the good things that happen to others.5

9.      There is a time to be serious and a time to be funny. Learn to laugh at yourself.6

10.  Help the helpless. Give to the needy.7

11.  Thank God each day for your blessings.8

12.  Offer yourself as a friend.9

13.  Eat together as a family.10

14.  Smile at babies.

15.  Live each day as if it were your last. It just might be.11
