Destiny

By Liz Wiskowski

Why am I here? What is God's plan for me? All of us are unique. One egg and one sperm out of millions united and formed each person on the earth. No one else is exactly like me. My build, voice, coloring, personality, intelligence. Yet God has something in store for each of us. But we make choices that form us every day. Are they the choices God wants us to make?

Young people have so many decisions to make. What college should I go to? What courses do I take? What career do I want? When and who should I marry? We do not have enough wisdom to make all the decisions in our lives, so why not ask for God's help? He knows our destiny. He knows why He formed us. In the book of Jeremiah He says, "Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, and before you were born, I consecrated you."

But be careful of your motives. Is your goal to be a multi-millionaire or a very important person in politics or business? Some of the wealthiest, most important people in the world are the most unhappy because there is a void in their lives where God should be. Why not pray, asking God to help you make the right decisions to fulfill the destiny He has set out for you? He will hear your prayers and help you.

I am still a work in progress. Was His plan for me to be a good wife and still love my husband after 60 plus years? To raise a big family the best way I knew how? To help others? Perhaps first to pray everyday for all of the people I know who need prayers. I feel that He isn't done with me yet. Each day I pray, "Jesus, help me to live this day the way God wants me to." This brings me peace, knowing that when He is ready, He will show me what He wants me to do. He hears me.
