A Sign?

There is a billboard on the outskirts of Stratford, Wisconsin which reads:
“Blessed is the Nation
Whose God is the Lord”
Psalm 33:12
Read the Bible Yourself
Growing up I remember the large Bible in our home. I remember looking at the pictures, but never reading the book. It was something I now realize most Catholics did. In recent times, we have been strongly encouraged to read and study the bible. Years ago when I tried to read the bible I just didn’t “get it”. In school I had trouble understanding Shakespeare until we discussed it in class and then the light bulb would come on! Oh, so that’s what he’s saying!
There are many “Tools for the Journey” made available to aid us in building our relationship with God. Bible studies are offered on a regular basis. What I really like about the studies offered here at St. Therese is the opportunity to share thoughts and discuss our lessons with other people. If one chooses to observe and not take part in the discussion that’s okay. The study is ones own personal journey. After the discussion we watch a DVD by a bible scholar and questions unanswered are usually explained to us.
We are beginning to study the book of James: Pearls for Wise Living on Sunday evenings beginning June 6th at 6:00 pm in the church basement. It’s not too late to join us.
