God isn’t in a Hurry
By Liz Wiskowski
Did you ever feel that God doesn’t hear you? We are too impatient. When we ask Him for something, we want it now! But God’s timetable isn’t the same as ours. Moses roamed the desert for forty years. Abraham waited until he was a very old man before he received his promised heir. Even Jesus waited thirty years before starting His work of salvation for us all.
Many of us older adults pray for the conversion of our children and grandchildren, who have either left the church or who are, at the most, lukewarm Catholics – and nothing seems to be happening. God is still working on them. Saint Monica prayed for many, many years before her son, Saint Augustine, became one of our greatest Saints.
Keep your faith strong. Pray many times each day, and in His time He will answer you. Unlike us, God is patient. He isn’t in a hurry. For this I am grateful. He has allowed me to live long enough to repent past sins, to pray every day, and prepare to meet Him when He is ready. You see, He is still working on me too.
