Nicaraguan Mission Trip

By Millie May

On March 12th, another group of missionaries will leave for Chicago, in preparation to fly to Nicaragua on March 13th. We will be gone one week and once again be helping at an orphanage for mentally and physically handicapped children. This orphanage is called “Hogar Belen” and the new orphanage in Diriamba is open but has not yet been named. Each missionary was asked to seek funds from friends and family and the raising of $1000.00 pays for their stay. The raising of $2000.00 pays for their stay and their airfare. We take donated items such as clothing, toiletries etc… in our checked luggage. Each missionary is allowed one checked bag. Each additional bag cost $25.00 to $30.00. Some of the missionaries have not yet reached their goal and could use donations made on their behalf.  However, there is another way that one can donate and that is to “Adopt a Suitcase.” If you are interested in helping with the fee for additional suitcases to go to Nicaragua please drop a donation in the collection plate in an envelope marked for Nicaragua-Adopt a Suitcase. If you wish: you may also contact Millie through the parish office or e-mail me at millie.may@solarus.net. God Bless you for your consideration.
