Girls Religious Awards
Religious awards are available to young girls and women ages 7 through 21. Except for the Father Marquette award, the awards are available to all girls and not just Girl Scouts.
The first award is the Family of God. This is designed for 2nd or 3rd graders. You will use the workbook to write the story of your place in the family of God. You will learn about yourself and about God’s special love for you, your family, and the world. There are many activities in the workbook that you can choose from. You can choose to write, draw or cut & paste your answers.
The I Live My Faith program is designed for 4th and 5th graders. This program enables the girls to grow as Christian persons and to take their place as active responsible members of their family, parish, troop/group and community. As with the Family of God, you always have choices as to what you want to do. You may choose to grow through prayer or by helping others. You may choose to do this award alone or work with others.
The Mary, the First Disciple program is for 7th and 8th graders. As a young Catholic, this program will help you learn more about Mary and more about yourself. You will meet her in Scripture as a young girl and follow her journey as she grows into the woman known as the Mother of God. You may choose to do role playing, service projects or prayer.
The Spirit Alive is designed for girls in grades 9 - 12. As a young Catholic, this program will help you grow in your awareness of the Holy Spirit. You will examine the revelation of the Holy Spirit through sacred Scripture, how the Holy Spirit has manifested itself in the history of the people of God, and ways the Holy Spirit enlivens your own spirituality. You will need to keep a journal for this award.
The last award is for 16 to 21 year olds. The Father Marquette Award seeks the recipient. You cannot apply for it. You are nominated for this award. You must be a practicing member of the Church and hold the Mary, the First Disciple emblem. You must serve your Parish and assist younger scouts with their faith by example or by helping with the religious awards. You must
demonstrate leadership and also be a registered member of Girl Scouts.
