Children’s Christmas Pageant

by Mike Lambrecht

It’s almost that time of year again – time to start planning for our annual Children’s Christmas Pageant. If you are not familiar with our pageant, it takes place on Christmas Eve around 3:30 just prior to the 4 pm Mass. The children get to act out the annunciation, journey to Bethlehem, and birth of Jesus Christ. As part of the program, the children also get to sing “Silent Night,” “Away in a Manger,” “Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” and “Joy to the World.”

Any interested child approximately age 4 and up are welcome to participate. Practices will be held on Saturdays at 1:00 PM starting November 28th and going through December 19th. Adult or high school age volunteers are also needed to help with the practices and to ensure that everything runs smoothly.

A minimum of 18 children are needed to fill all of the roles. We have need of:

Narrators (2 or 3) – boys or girls

Mary - girl

Joseph - boy

Wise Men (3)- boys

Innkeeper - boy

Innkeeper’s Wife - girl

Lots of Angels – girls

The Star - girl

Shepherds - boys

In years past, we have had an abundance of females who want to be in the pageant and have struggled to find enough boys. While it is great to see such enthusiasm from the girls, we do need at least six boys willing to be in the play. Please encourage your children, male or female to participate. Let’s make this years play our biggest and best yet!

If you or your child(ren) are interested in being in the pageant, please call the religious education office at 359-9006 as soon as possible to sign up. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Thank you.
