The Witnesses of the

Empty Tomb

By Father Janusz

Most probably the death of Jesus Christ brought to his disciples a lot of unexpected drama, a living disaster. Everything that was very important to them was laid in ruins. All hope, in a moment turned to nothing. Life lost its sense. Everyone thought, “It is impossible that Jesus can be caught, arrested, and killed.” There was no reason for it to be like this.

Jesus after all was the Son of God, with power and strength. Other things happened too-one disciple betrayed him, one denied him, some escaped, and one at the cross did not have the courage to protest. Everything was lost. Only the feelings of suffering defeat remained. No one remembered about the mystery of the resurrection.

After Good Friday and Holy Saturday, came the news on Sunday….He is risen, the tomb is empty! How could this happen?

At that moment something started to be different in their lives. Mary Magdaline came and said to them, “The tomb is empty and his body is gone”. This information needed to be verified. Two of them decided to go and check. What they saw gave them strong faith to believe He is truly risen. Everything since then has new meaning! Slow down, let’s think about this…they were in an upper room with the door locked. He came and said, “Peace be with you…”

He comes to me today, He brings me what I need for my present and future time. He is among us with hope-everything has sense. This picture of Jesus helped the disciples to understand, today the same can happen to me and to my family. Finally I can stop worrying about things which are not important to me, I can focus on the most important people in my life, I can find my source of my life here and in the future in Him. Jesus is bringing joy, optimism, hope and strength. May the risen One bless all of us now and forever. Don’t forget-you are the witness of His death and His resurrection, and this event happened for a reason.
