A Review of “The Healing Power of the Eucharist”

By Mike Lambrecht

In his book, Father John Hampsch who is a member of the Claretian Missionaries explains the benefits of receiving the Eucharist while exploring just what is taking place when we receive Holy Communion. He begins by examining the ways in which we receive grace in our lives. He then begins to focus on the Eucharist as God’s greatest gift to us.

During the course of the book Father Hampsch discusses “Four ways to stymie grace” and also “How to receive the Eucharist devoutly.” All of this helps us to gather a greater understanding of just what “communion” is and leads one to think about this truly marvelous gift and miracle that takes place each day at Mass. Father Hampsch also addresses three kinds of healing in the book including actual examples of physical healing, emotional healing, and spiritual healing.

In conclusion, I would very much recommend this book to anyone who is seeking a greater

understanding of the Eucharist and a greater devotion to Jesus in their life. Father Hampsch makes many good points that we often don’t think about regularly in our own lives but which can help to foster a deeper conversion within ourselves and open us up ever more to God’s grace within our lives.
